Cabbage Un-Rolls

My mom always made real cabbage rolls when I was growing up, and I didn't like them very much.  Some mouthfuls had way too much cabbage in them!  When I married, I discovered from my mother-in-law that it was possible to un-roll the ingredients and turn them into a casserole.  This is a blend of my mother's ingredients and my mother-in-law's method.  It's perfect for a fall or winter weekend day when you are home anyway, as it takes 2 1/2 hours to bake.
